Black Sabbath - Greatest Hits (2009)English - Metal music | MP3 - 320 kbps MPEG 1 Layer III | 168 MBPublisher: Sony Music | Language: English Greatest Hits is a very peculiar album though. Its rather like reviewing your own mother: depending upon what age you are, you either love them unconditionally, or you see their flaws and love them regardless. Even people who claim to hate their mothers love them really. [Except Norman Bates. - Ed.] Such it is with Black Sabbath. The songs here are all exemplary and essential. You cant be a rock fan and not own the first four albums; Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Master Of Reality and Volume 4 are cornerstones of modern rock and metal music. Everything follows from these four albums. The problem is how to review this for the umpteenth time. But theres a problem. By my quick reckoning this is the 15th Black Sabbath best of; thats insane. Unless this current version comes with a free groupie theres no possible reason for recycling the same material one more time. Its selection of tracks is largely agreeable, but any retrospective failing to begin with the tolling bells of their title tune and end either with War Pigs or Sabbath Bloody Sabbath can rot in a bowl of vomit, as it is clearly an exploitation release. Why youd include anything from Never Say Die seems equally mystifying, and the argument for including the (only) Black Sabbath unoriginal Evil Woman cover version is completely mind-boggling.But its the absence of Supernaut and Into The Void which makes Greatest Hits so fundamentally flawed. If you can judge a band by the bands whove covered their songs, then Black Sabbath are so far ahead of the pack theyre on another continent. Ministry (under the guise of 1000 Homo DJs) covered Supernaut in the most extraordinary way possible, and Into The Void is the standard by which metal bands measure their ability to cover songs: Kyuss and Monster Magnet have each made astounding attempts, but the original reigns supreme. What possessed Universal to the leave the songs off is anyones guess, though. [My guess is "lawyers". - Ed.] Its just as well we all have CD burners and shuffle facilities to help render these points somewhat moot.Black Sabbath still inspire awe and endless fascination, and Greatest Hits does them no justice. Trust me: just go out and buy the first four albums and ignore this best of history. Theyre only trying to screw you. Tracklist:01.Paranoid02.Iron Man03.Changes04.Fairies Wear Boots05.War Pigs06.Never Say Die07.Children of the Grave08.The Wizard09.Snow Blind10.Sweet Leaf11.Evil Woman, Dont Play Your Games with Me12.Sabbath Bloody Sabbath13.Black Sabbath14.N.I.B [ Pobierz całość w formacie PDF ]
